Fire Safety Training
There is no disputing the importance of fire safety. Every year over 10,000 people are injured in fires in the home (Home Office Communication Directorate leaflet FSH1). It is important for childminders to know how to take precautions against fire, and what should to do incase of a fire.
Training usually includes how to work out, write and practice your emergency escape plan, how to stop burning toast from setting off your fire alarm with out removing the battery, how to test your Co2 detector is really working, how to use your compulsory fire blanket, teaching children about fire safety etc. The course is normally one evening, date to be arranged when sufficient numbers request the course. A certificate is awarded for this course which can be added to your information (portfolio) shown to Ofsted.
