Cache level 3 Diploma in Pre-School Practice
The CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Pre-school Practice is a joint initiative qualification between CACHE and the PLA (Pre-school Learning alliance). it:
- provides a qualification for those who wish to work at an unsupervised or supervisory level in the pre-school field;
- is a Level 3 qualification (submitted to the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) for inclusion onto the qualifications framework);
- provides the opportunity to achieve free standing units or one qualification made up of 3 core units and one option unit;
- gives an overall grade for the whole qualification;
- gives you a secure basis of knowledge and understanding;
Course Outline
There are four 60 hour units (three core units, plus one of the three option units) which can be taken on a part-time basis over the CACHE period of registration. You would also need to spend at least 150 hours in contact with children and families in pre-schools in order to be able to successfully complete the assessments for this award.
You must complete all of the following:
- Core Unit 1 - Promoting Children’s Development
- Core unit 2 - Early Learning
- Core unit 3 - Best Practice in Pre-School Settings
And one of the following:
- Option unit 1 - Working with Children with Special Educational Needs
- Option unit 2 - The First Year of Life
- Option unit 3 - Community Development
Four assignments (one for each unit) have to be successfully completed to gain the full award.
Registration
You register at one of your local CACHE approved study centres. The list of centres is available from CACHE. The centres will be able to give you information about their fees, any entry requirements and discuss the programme to ensure it is suitable for you and your career goals.
Further Qualifications
The (DPP) has been designed to provide the underpinning knowledge and understanding for units within the Level 3 NVQ in EYCE and details are provided in the award documents.
Candidates may progress to related Level 3 qualifications with accreditation of prior achievement, eg: CACHE Diploma in Child Care and Education (DCE) or they may progress directly into the Level 4 NVQ in Early Years Care and Education according to their experience and levels of responsibility.
