The Certificate in Childminding Practice (CCP) is a nationally recognised award demonstrating that childminding is equal to other forms of daycare. The CCP is an award from the Council for Awards in Childcare and Education (CACHE).
The CCP is made up of three units each having two assignments:

- Developing Childminding Practice (DCP), This is a 60 hour course based on the current DCP1.More information
- Extending Childminding Practice (ECP), This is a further 60 hour course for experienced childminders, based on the current DCP2.More information
Together these three courses become the Certificate in Childminding Practice, a level three course. They can also provide all the underpinning knowledge needed for the NVQ level three in Early Years Care and Education.
Once you have gained your CCP award, you can enrol as an NVQ candidate at your local NVQ assessment centre if you wish. This course will have provided you with all the underpinning knowledge needed for an NVQ level 3.
Please note: If you are taking an NVQ, it is level 3 NVQ that is appropriate for you because you work alone and unsupervised in your own home. Level 2 s only appropriate for those who are not competent to work alone and require supervision e.g. assistants in a nursery.
