HNC Early Childhood Studies

When choosing childcare courses it can be hard to know what to expect, the personal experiences of other childminders can help you choose a course that is right for you.

I am currently doing the HNC Early childhood Studies. In the past I have studied other courses including Access Psychology, NVQ3 Early Years Care & Education and Developmental Psychology.

I'm studying at college one evening per week. This works out ok for me as I can fit it into my busy schedule.

There were no materials supplied with the course, I've had to purchase everything myself. We were given a list of reading materials however.

I have to complete assignments at the end of every term in the the form of essays, reports, seminars and research papers. Contribution in class also helps.

The work is not too much of a problem, it's mainly time consuming (4500 word assignments). I found no negatives with the course at present as I'm really enjoying it.

The course has helped me gain a greater insight into the world of children and families. I'm enjoying it very much.

To fit the course around my other commitments needed good planning and hubby had to change his nights at the youth club to accommodate my course.

In the future I plan to top up to a HND first then possibly complete final year for a masters degree.

If you are considering taking the course you should know that it's a lot of hard work, but like me if you love studying - go for it!!
