Kwanzaa Mini Music Makers

Easy to make from empty film canisters and Lolly sticks.

You need:

  1. Paint the craft sticks black/green/red horizontal bands .
  2. Decorate the containers using coloured paper strips (horizontal stripes).
  3. Cut a slit in the lids to hold the craft sticks securely.
  4. Fill containers half full with rice or dried beans.
  5. Replace the tops.
  6. Push in the craft sticks.

Kwanzaa Necklaces

You will need:

Instructions

  1. Get the children to paint the sheets of paper different colours (Red, Black, Green) or paint to represent Tiger Stripes/Zebra Stripes/ Leopard spots etc.
  2. When dry roll up into tubes and glue at one end.
  3. Cut into ½" sections to make beads.
  4. Measure cord for suitable necklace length around each child and cut length accordingly (must be able to go over child’s head easily or if for a gift over adults head) Tie a knot in the end of cord.
  5. Thread your paper beads in a pattern to that similar to the above picture. Let each child make their own design. Tie off ends.
