Kwanzaa Mini Music Makers
Easy to make from empty film canisters and Lolly sticks.
You need:
- Two Empty Film Canisters with lids
- Two lolly sticks
- Coloured paper (Red, Black, Yellow, Green)
- Rice, or Dried Beans Black
- Red, Yellow & Green Paint
- Scissors
Instructions
- Paint the craft sticks black/green/red horizontal bands .
- Decorate the containers using coloured paper strips (horizontal stripes).
- Cut a slit in the lids to hold the craft sticks securely.
- Fill containers half full with rice or dried beans.
- Replace the tops.
- Push in the craft sticks.
Kwanzaa Necklaces
You will need:
- Sheets of paper
- Paint (Red Black and Green) or (black and white/Yellow & brown to represent animal skin colours)
- Scissors
- PVA Glue
- Cord
Instructions
- Get the children to paint the sheets of paper different colours (Red, Black, Green) or paint to represent Tiger Stripes/Zebra Stripes/ Leopard spots etc.
- When dry roll up into tubes and glue at one end.
- Cut into ½" sections to make beads.
- Measure cord for suitable necklace length around each child and cut length accordingly (must be able to go over child’s head easily or if for a gift over adults head) Tie a knot in the end of cord.
- Thread your paper beads in a pattern to that similar to the above picture. Let each child make their own design. Tie off ends.
